Since 2017, Booking has been unable to book domestic reservations in Turkey. The restrictions were imposed following a court ruling against the Turkish Travel Agencies Association (TÜRSAB), which accused the platform of unfair competition and non-compliance with local requirements. n. At the same time, the service has not completely disappeared: users can still book hotels outside Turkey through Booking.com, and tourists from other countries can stay in Turkey.
If the new law is passed by parliament, Booking will be able to officially resume work on the Turkish market within the framework of the updated rules. That means:
More accommodation options for residents of Turkey
Increased competition among online booking services
Additional audience for Turkish hotels
More convenient search and booking of housing within the country.
If approved, it will be one of the most notable changes in Turkey’s tourism market in recent years and could have a significant impact on both travellers and the hotel industry.
