The project involves legendary automotive designer Frank Stephenson, whose work includes the Ferrari F430, McLaren P1, the first BMW X5, the modern MINI and the Fiat 500. He also has a special connection with Turkey: Stephenson spent part of his childhood in Istanbul, so working on a new Turkish brand has personal as well as professional significance for him.
👀The company initially plans to launch two models: a saloon and a crossover. Petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions are being considered.
According to the company, the project forms part of an investment programme worth approximately €1 billion, covering the development of passenger and commercial vehicle production.
The passenger cars are expected to be manufactured at the factory in Gebze formerly owned by Honda. The Civic Sedan was produced there for 24 years; after Honda withdrew from the Turkish market, the plant passed to HABAŞ.
👉🏻Frank Stephenson Design has been entrusted with creating the new Turkish car's appearance. The work goes beyond an attractive body: the team is developing the brand's visual identity, 3D models, body surfaces, prototypes and the engineering integration of the future vehicle.
It is too early to talk about competing with BMW, Mercedes-Benz or Audi. The car has not yet been unveiled, and its final specifications, prices and trim levels remain unknown.
But the strategy certainly looks ambitious🔥
If the project succeeds, another automotive brand could appear on Turkey's roads in the coming years, attracting interest around the world🚗
