Since April 20, the notarial guarantee system (taahhütname) has been officially abolished – precisely the scheme through which many used to issue a residence permit without real residence.
If you explain in simple language: earlier it was possible to “register” with a friend or even through intermediaries, issue a notarial document and apply for a residence permit. It has become a mass practice.
Over time, a whole market grew around this – sureties were sold, applications were submitted formally, and real addresses often did not coincide with reality. During the inspections, hundreds of such cases were identified and even began to cancel the already issued residence permits.
? ? In Turkey, it is no longer possible to take shape on paper. To get a residence permit, you need to show a real basis for living in the country. It can be an official lease, own property, study, work or family. Moreover, the confirmation of the address has become one of the key requirements – without it, the application will simply not be accepted.
For some, it looks like a complication, but for investors and those who really plan to live in Turkey, it’s more of a plus. When rules become clear and uniform for everyone, risks are reduced and trust in the system grows.?
That is why today it is especially important to approach the process strategically: choose the right basis for a residence permit, competently issue documents and take into account all requirements in advance.
