The main event that the world media are now waiting for is the talks between Vladimir Zelensky and US President Donald Trump. According to preliminary information, the leaders will hold a separate bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit.
Why is this meeting so interesting??
Against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, it is the U.S. position that remains a key factor in military support, arms supplies, and further diplomatic initiatives. Zelensky is expected to raise issues of strengthening air defence, further assistance to Ukraine and coordination with allies.
The summit itself has been called one of the most important in recent years. In addition to the situation in Ukraine, the leaders discussed increasing NATO defence spending, strengthening European security, developing the defence industry and new challenges for the Alliance.
It is no coincidence that Turkey became the venue for this meeting. Ankara today plays an increasingly prominent role in international diplomacy, remaining one of the key participants in negotiations on security, the Black Sea region and the Middle East.
In the coming hours, the world’s attention will be focused on the outcome of the negotiations. They can set the tone for NATO’s future decisions and determine the next stage of international relations.
