Now, for each request to the registration database of vehicles through the notary system, a fee will be charged - 2 Turkish liras for the request or the received entry.
What's important to know:
• The fee relates specifically to requests to the registration database of cars
• The cost will be indexed annually
Access to data is now possible only if there is a legal basis
• The first request for each vehicle will remain free for a year.
• Public authorities and municipalities are exempt from payment
Previously, many used the system to quickly check cars before buying: registration history, legal restrictions, data on the owner and status of the vehicle. Now the government is tightening control over the use of this information.
For foreign citizens, this is especially true, because buying a car in Turkey is one of the most common household tasks after obtaining a residence permit or moving.
The authorities also gave a transition period for companies and organisations that work with the system without a formal agreement with the Union of Notaries – the agreement must be formalized within two months.
Against the backdrop of Turkey’s active digitalization, this looks like part of a major reform: the state is gradually moving all key services – real estate to cars and banking – into the most transparent and controlled system.
