Historical origin
Centre Table Library borrows table design from Thomas J. Watson Library, Metropolitan Museum of Art Research Library. This library houses a collection of over a million volumes, extensive digital collections and online resources, making it one of the most comprehensive art libraries in the world. Library together with original drawing of library table (ok). 1753–62), created by the famous furniture maker Thomas Chippendale (British, 1718–1779), influenced the design of the Centre Table Library, which is magnificently made of black veneer.
