Historical origin
The Lioness side table borrows the direction of the design from a French three-legged table in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The table, made of wood and gilded bronze with a mosaic surface, dates from about 1815-1825 and has magnificently exquisite legs in the form of winged lioness, as well as details of flora and fauna. The top surface depicts four birds drinking from a golden bowl and is decorated with a carved border. The Lioness' Side Table repeats the silhouette of the museum table, with tripod legs in bronze finish and the elegant simplicity of a transparent glass countertop.
