Intricate sheet carving on capitals and a complex base in the form of a torus reflect the impeccable skill of the era. This pillar is a testament to ancient architectural skill.
Historical origins
Artemis Column is inspired by a marble column (ok). 300. don. from the Temple of Artemis in Sardis, one of the jewels of The Met's collection of Greek and Roman art. A massive section of the channeled Ionian column, which in its original position reached a height of more than 17 m, demonstrates an elegant leaf carving on the capitals - a unique detail among the surviving columns of the temple. Marble reproduction of the column has elegant grooved elements in honour of the details of the column and is made of marble mounted on a black pedestal.
