Historical origin
The Column Grant is inspired by a series of six marble columns created in Granada, Spain, between 1350 and 1400 and now in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The columns originally belonged to the Alhambra, a famous royal palace town in Granada whose name means "red" because of the red clay used in construction. Narrow columns are characteristic of the architectural style of the Nasrid dynasty (1232–1492), and probably decorated the open courtyards between the palaces. “Column Grant”, made of rich black veneer, turns into a museum pedestal for presentation.
