Historical origin
The Lucca Column is inspired by a set of six marble columns created in Granada, Spain, between 1350 and 1400, now in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. These columns originally belonged to the Alhamra, the famous palace and city complex in Granada, whose name means "red" in the colour of the red clay used in construction. Narrow columns are characteristic of the architectural style of the Nasrid dynasty (1232–1492) and may have decorated the outdoor courtyards between the palaces. Colun Lucca, made of warm natural travertine, becomes a museum-level pedestal for presentation.
